Chetco Bar Fire update: "Things are looking good"

Chetco Bar Fire, September 4th. (Chetco Bar Fire Facebook Page)

The Chetco Bar Fire has grown 40 acres to 182,284 and it is still 5 percent contained.

The Public Information Officer says this is the smallest acreage increase so far, and is a indicator that the fire has slowed down since last week's rain.

Fire crews had to stop structural triage because they were shot at Sunday, and the safety of the firefighters is important, according to Fire Chief Dennis Hoke.

The fire on the East side is about 50 acres. There are no flames active, and hand crews are tying in dozer lines.

Fire Crews expect winds to be northeast which blows away from the Illinois Valley.

Temperature will be the hottest today, but the humidity is dropping.

Chief Hoke says things are looking good.
