City council votes to remove Fruitdale left turn

Oregon Department of Transportation is getting rid of the left hand turn lane on Fruitdale Drive to Williams Highway in Grants Pass.

ODOT went to city council a couple weeks ago for approval and it was granted.

They say this stretch of road causes a lot of accidents and is dangerous.

News10 spoke with shop owners along Fruitdale.

"I think there are other things they can try a speed reduction. They can try trimming back shrubs that keep you for being able to see up the road. That’s a very drastic change," said Sharon Rydell, Grants Pass Resident.

There were also people who said they are for the change and say it will be safer for drivers.
