City of Central Point prepares for overhaul of Pine Street
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. -- Central Point residents can expect changes to get underway on Pine Street.
Starting next week the beautification project will expand sidewalks, as well as add trees, benches, and new traffic signals.
The public works director said he wants the downtown to be as noticeable as the newer subdivisions surrounding the city.
"The downtown has not always had the amount of improvements that some of the new areas have had. So this is a re-investment within the core of the town and Pine Street is main street so making sure that people want to be in downtown Central Point," Matt Samitore said.
The project is almost 20 years in the making. It was made possible after the urban renewal agency was formed four years ago.
The new Pine Street is expected to be ready by the end of next year.
