Fatal motorcycle crash believed to be result of road rage
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. —
UPDATE (12:17) - Oregon State Police have identified Kevin Mayo, 25, as the victim in the crash.
He was driving a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle.
Thursday afternoon, a pickup truck drove into a motorcyclist near milepost 27 on Interstate 5.
Raleigh Rodriguez was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd Degree Manslaughter and lodged in the Jackson County Jail after the motorcyclist died of his injuries at a local hospital.
Oregon State Police says Rodriguez has no criminal history and this crash was a result of road rage on Interstate 5.
"There was some type of aggressive driving, road rage, going on for several miles," Sgt. Jeff Proulx said. "At one point, for whatever reason, he actually took his vehicle and turned it into the motorcyclist."
The motorcyclist's name will be released later on Friday once next of kin have been notified.
