Historic insurance building demolished in Grants Pass
GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- The old Booth Insurance Agency building on fourth street was torn down in Grants Pass on March 16.
The owners said it was built in the 1940s, and had no insulation or heating systems. Elaine Booth said it was tough to say goodbye to the old location, but she wanted to make an investment in the community by improving the appearance of the area.
"We tried to find somebody who could move it and repurpose the building and it just wasn't feasible. We had four or five people look at it so we just ended up having to demolish it," she said.
The owner hopped on the bulldozer and took the first few swings at the building on Thursday. The new location is in a newer building next door.
