White City, Ore. - Jackson County Fire District 3 held its FireWise Expo on Friday to educate the public on flammable materials and best practices to prevent fires in the first place.

On Friday, Eagle Point Middle School students all attended the expo to connect what they've been learning in science class to real life examples.

"We've had a couple students in our building alone that have had just this year, so it's relevant to them," Rob Poll, a teacher from EPMS, said. "The hope is that they'll take it back home and they'll talk about it a little bit and spread it throughout the community."

The expo continues on Saturday with burning demonstrations at 10:00 A.M., noon and 2:00 P.M.
