Local crews helping fight Central Oregon Ana fire
The Ana Fire burning in the rocky terrain near Summer Lake made it harder for crews to get to.
That coupled with the strong winds quickly grew the fire to 3,200 acres.
Right now 900 firefighters are working on containing it, some of which are from right here at home.
But ODF says the resources are dispersed to account for our potential fires as well.
"There's a fine line of what we're willing to give to make sure we don't leave people back home unprotected. So right now we're in a state where we can give that severity helicopter over to them to help with firefighting resources," said Melissa Cano, the ODF public information officer.
That's because two other helicopters will be in our area starting Wednesday and Thursday.
