Local veteran spearheads a 'veteran to veteran' support group

A local veteran uses his newfound stability in his life to make a lasting impact on others.

Monday was day one of Setzer's veteran to veteran process group, a support meeting designed to help each other through technical and emotional processes that follow PTSD.

Those in attendance say the experience is unlike the one at the VA because of the level of understanding that's shared among each other.

"I can honestly tell somebody I know how they feel because I've been through those steps. Maybe not the intensity, maybe not the situation but I can relate to another vet that's struggling in their recovery," said Setzer.

Setzer recently graduated from the Steps program at the VA and is in the process of enrolling at RCC to get his peer support certificate.

He then hopes to work at the VA in the peer support department.
