Man who allegedly stabs, strangles dog to death arrested
MEDFORD, Ore. —
A Medford man who allegedly strangled and stabbed a family dog to death has been arrested.
Medford Police say they responded to the 700th block of Stevens Street Thursday evening after a family member reported that 24-year-old Jordan Vogel had strangled and stabbed the family dog inside of their home.
Officers say they located the deceased dog in a back bedroom of the vacant apartment upon arrival.
The investigation determined that Vogel and the family member were arguing, which lead to Vogel killing the dog.
The family member sustained minor injuries as they tried to prevent Vogel from attacking the dog.
Police located Vogel in a parking lot adjacent to his residence shortly after arrival. Vogel was arrested without further incident.
Witnesses told police in a statement that Vogel suffers chronic mental illness.
Vogel was lodged at the Jackson County Jail and charged with Aggravated Animal Abuse, Assault 4, Harassment and Coercion.
Vogel was arrested on January 22, 2018 after an incident that resulted in him assaulting a Medford Police officer.
