Medford Fire offers safety tips during National Fire Prevention Week
MEDFORD, Ore —
It's National Fire Prevention Week, and Medford Fire opened up the new fire district two for the public.
The theme for this week is, "every second counts, plan two ways out," and residents were offered safety tips if they ever have to deal with a house fire.
Deputy Fire Marshal Samantha Metheny says the most important tip for residents is to make sure they have a working smoke detector.
A lot of fires happen at night and the smoke detector is the first signal a person can get, alerting them a fire is burning.
