CENTRAL POINT, Ore.-- A Central Point aquatics center is offering mermaid classes.

Rogue Aquatics started the mermaid program back in December and since then, the owners said it has taken off.

Mermaids of all ages have come to the center to get their tail on.

"It just really kind of feels like a childhood dream come true is what it feels like," Mermaid Coordinator Sam Newton said. "Like I said, when I was little, this wasn't a thing when I was saying I wanted to be a mermaid."

The aquatics center said it took safety very seriously while researching for the right tail. Newton said she researched for more than a year to make sure they were selling the most safe and best product.

The first mermaid class is $40. Rogue Aquatics supplies the fin, and you do need to preregister. After the first class. you have to buy your own tail and fin.

In addition to the mermaid class, you can join the mermaid club. Mermaid birthday parties are also an option for your special day.
