New coach aims for perfect graduation rates by 2020
EAGLE POINT, Ore. -- Eagle Point High School is getting a graduation coach.
United Way is partnering with AllCare Health as part of the Big Idea Project. It's aimed at increasing graduation rates across Jackson County.
The new coach will work with 74 students who are at risk of not graduating, checking on academics, attendance, and progress over time.
"Somebody who is not only an advocate for them but is working on soft skills like resiliency and self-regulation, being a self advocate, communicating with adults," Assistant Principal Heather Marinucci said.
The graduation coach will tutor students, and even pick them up to go to school when needed. The Big Idea is aiming for a 100 percent graduation rate by 2020.
