Nurse says tentative contract agreement is a "big win" for Providence nurses.

Nurse say tentative contract agreement is a "big win" for Providence nurses.

Monday, News 10 spoke with Providence Medical Center about a tentative contract agreement for it's nurses.

Now, the nurses are speaking out about it.

Nurse Christalyn Matlock says coming up with a tentative contract, is a big win for the nurses.

She says the Oregon Nurses Association has been working on a new contract with Providence since October.

Matlock says the biggest issue nurses had was being overworked, the new contract changes that.

"Having consistent scheduling helps you one, prepare for it, to be properly rested, having continuity on it, having the same nurse for three days of the two days makes a difference to patients," said Matlock.

She says if the vote goes well, the new contract could take effect as soon as Sunday.
