ODOT pushes to finish Caveman Bridge rail in time for Boatnik
GRANTS PASS, Ore. —
The historic 1931 Caveman Bridge in Grants Pass is on schedule to be completed with renovations within the year.
The bridge is getting a complete makeover for both aesthetic and structural purposes.
Right now cracks are being filled and titanium pins are being added.
A lot of that work takes place during the evening hours so as to not obstruct traffic.
"We have night work going on where we've cut the old bridge rail off and now we're replacing it in kind with a brand new bridge rail that looks identical to the old rail but meets today's crash standards," said Gary Leaming with ODOT.
That section of the project is expected to be completed in time for Boatnik on Memorial Day weekend.
