MEDFORD, Ore. - Medford Police is asking for help identifying who is responsible for a hit and run that happened last night.

Around midnight a vehicle crashed into the fence of a home on the 1200 block of Stewart Avenue.

Police say there is about 500 dollars’ worth of damage but the cost is going to be much more because it was a hit and run.

"If you don't take the steps to report it and take the steps to contact the owner then you're going from something that could simply be handled by an exchange of information where the insurance company takes care of it to an arrestable offense where you could be lodged in jail," Corporal Randy Jewell said.

Police say that offense could cost thousands of dollars.

The vehicle involved is described as a red Chevy c-25 pickup.

The license plate number is XNL395.
