Red Cross looking for blood donations to end shortage
MEDFORD, Ore —
The Red Cross is making a call to action for people to donate their blood.
It's because the winter weather that has swept through half the nation, has canceled 150 blood drives and has caused more than 5,500 blood and platelets donations to go uncollected, all within the first four days of January.
The Red Cross needs all types of blood, but stresses donations from people with O- blood and for platelets.
The Red Cross classifies this shortage as critical and is working to keep it from getting severe.
