Renovations revealed at Mt. Ashland Ski Lodge
Months of renovations are finally coming to a close at the Mt. Ashland Ski Lodge.
A $1.4 million budget was put towards the project that began in June of 2017.
"I have not been this excited since my son was born. This is the birth of the next generation skiiers and riders that are going to take advantage of this community asset."
Upstairs, walls were removed to open up the space. The staircase was also moved from the center of the room.
In the main dining room, two outdoor patios were enclosed with floor to ceiling windows.
And down stairs, a new ski school and rental space was created. Before the renovations, both were located across the parking lot-- requiring skiers and riders to walk a quarter-mile across the windiest point of the Siskiyou mountain range.
The project is still lacking another $200,000 to be put towards painting the outside of the lodge and other finishing touches.
On Sunday, the project's biggest donor, Sid DeBoer, announced that he is giving a matching donation of $100,000 towards the renovations. This comes after his original $500,000 donation that kicked off the project.
