Sheriff: Pursuit ends with one arrest
JOSEPHINE COUNTY, Ore. —
Josephine County Sheriff recovered a stolen Toyota 4 Runner after a short pursuit on Sunday.
The incident happened at 10:52 a.m. when a deputy had made contact with three occupants inside a Toyota 4 Runner parked at the Kerby High Pines trailer park. The three people excited the truck and immediately began walking away.
The deputy tried to detain a man who resisted and tried to assault the deputy before running away.
A second man identified as 21-year-old Brandon Cain of Cave Junction re-entered the truck and immediately fled the scene eluding deputies on Holten Creek Road before crashing into a power pole.
Cain jumped out of the truck and fled on foot. He was later arrested while walking down Glendon Road.
JCSO determined the truck had been reported stolen on December 1st.
Cain was lodged into the Josephine County Jail for for unlawful use of a motor vehicle, felony elude and interfering with a peace officer.
JCSO are currently working on identifying the other man who fled on foot.
