Received a call from JCSO? It's a scam


The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is warning of a phone scam in the area.

Deputies say, the person calling claims to be "Lieutenant Sharp" of the sheriff's office and tells the person to come pay a fine to avoid an arrest.

JSCO says they have already received a report of a local woman losing hundreds of dollars by sending MoneyGram cards to the scammer.

The sheriff's office reminds the public that they do not call people on any matter that involves a fine payment or an arrest.

Deputies says that if you do receive a suspicious call, hang up and don't provide any further personal information or payment and to report any suspicious phone or online scams to the FBI at
