South Medford High School holds forum for students

South Medford High School held an open forum for students Tuesday.

The District says it's to give students the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns and ideas.

This is after the school shooting last month in Parkland Florida.

"We really felt that it was important to have forums at our schools where school staff can hear those concerns from students, but also hold those outside an instructional school day. We don't want students to miss classes, but we do feel like it is important for them to have their voices heard," said Natalie Hurd with the Medford School District.

The forum was not open to the public, but a district-wide community forum on safety will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Central Medford High School.
