Weed Grocery Outlet gives back after Facebook challenge
WEED, Calif. -- The Weed Grocery Outlet is set to open next Thursday, and they created a challenge for customers.
If the grocery outlet Facebook page hit a thousand likes, they planned to donate a thousand dollars in gift cards to Siskiyou County Food Assistance. Thursday the grocery outlet hit that goal, and the owner said the cause is close to his heart.
"The biggest part of it is being a partnership in the community. We're going to be here for a long time. We've got a big, brand new store and we really want to service this community," owner Rodney Barr said.
The food bank will be awarded at the store's opening celebration next week. The grocery outlet plans to continue this partnership in the future.
