VIDEO: Flooding in Dunsmuir leads to evacuations

DUNSMUIR, Calif. - The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office has issued a Code Red for Dunsmuir and surrounding areas affected by flooding.

The evacuation warning was issued by the sheriff's office for residents in the following areas:

  • River Ave
  • Butterfly Ave between Clark Street
  • Gillis Street
  • South First Street to the Siskiyou County line
  • Shasta Retreat area

Authorities say once you leave, you will not be able to reenter the evacuation area until the flood danger has passed.

An evacuation center has been established at the Dunsmuir Catholic Parish Hall at 5605 Shasta Ave.

Pets may be taken to the Dunsmuir Community Center where kennel are available.
