Around 9 a.m., Ashland Police received a called about a person inside a home in the 600 block of East Main Street. The caller was concerned because the individual was acting suspiciously.
When police arrived, they learned the man inside was squatting in a vacation home. The individual has a history of mental issues and criminal behavior.
The man barricaded himself in the home and police could not reach him. As a result, Ashland police officials called in Medford Police's SWAT team.
Police decided to take their time dealing with the man since he had a history of mental health issues.
At 3 p.m., they took him into custody without incident.
The man is being evaluated by mental health professionals.
Police say he could face criminal trespass charges; however, investigators are still looking into the case.
They are not releasing his name at this time.
