Raphael Amoroso received a three-year sentence Wednesday in federal court. The judge gave him credit for one year already served.
The judge also gave the 27-year-old Grants Pass man three years post prison supervision and is requiring the man to get psychiatric treatment while in prison.
Federal prosecutors had sought a five-year sentence for the man after he pleaded guilty in August. He was charged with having a gun on school grounds and being a marijuana user in possession of firearms.
The incident occurred in October 2011 at the Grants Pass High School. He was arrested after he approached an officer outside the school hours after a football game. Police found marijuana, a loaded pistol, rifle ammunition and novel about a rogue federal agent who opens fire on a football game.
