GRANTS PASS, Ore.-Last Thursday, Rogue Valley Humane Society returned to a home it visited a year and a half ago with Animal Planet to investigate hoarding claims.
Just one week ago, a neighbor notified the Humane Society--something was not right.
The Humane Society arrived to discover the home owner had hidden a few animals during its first visit.
Three goats and over ten cats were found, surrounded by feces, urine and garbage.
Three cats were immediately taken to the Humane Society.
The ill cats are undergoing treatment and will be available for adoption in one to two weeks.
"We're gonna hold them for about a week longer just to make sure no other medical issues are going on because of the fact of the conditions of the home. We just want to make sure that we get a few minor issues," says Margaret Varner with the Rogue Valley Humane Society.
The Rogue Valley Humane Society is working on rescuing the rest of the animals at this home.
That same day, the organization rescued eight roach-infested cats from another home.
Three kittens, so young they should still be with their mother, are being very closely watched and treated.
A now mother of four kittens was giving birth to a kitten when the Humane Society arrived, gave birth to a second one in Varner's hands and had her last two kittens at the Humane Society.
Varner says the owners of both homes cooperated with the Humane Society and admit they need help.
