The accident happened around 9:48 p.m. Tuesday on Northeast Third Street near Lincoln Street, according to a press release from the Klamath Falls Police Department.
Officers say the 60-year-old victim was sledding in an alleyway when he entered Northeast Third Street. When he entered the street, he struck the side of car traveling east.
The car slowed down and a witness told the driver he hit the sledder. Police say the driver failed to stop and left the scene.
Police searched the area but were unable to find the vehicle involved. They have not identified the driver.
Witnesses say the vehicle is an early 1990s four-door white sedan. The car has stock rims and light tinted windows. Police say the car should have some damage to the driver's side.
Police say the victim was first taken to Sky Lakes Medical Center but was later flown to St. Charles Medical Center.
If you have information, you can call the Klamath Falls Police Tip Line at (541) 883-5334 or go online to www.kfpd.us/contact-us.
Police also want to remind resident that is against city policy to sled in city streets.
