SISKIYOU COUNTY, Ore.-A man on a Greyhound bus southbound on I-5 stabbed two other passengers early Tuesday morning.
Charles Burnett Ripley (66) of Kennewick, Washington was on a Greyhound bus south of Dunsmuir heading south on I-5.
Without warning, Ripley lunged himself across the aisle to stab a 22-year-old woman, twice in the abdomen.
Two other men on the bus immediately wrestled and detained Ripley until California Highway Patrol arrived.
Ripley stabbed one of the men (23) on the leg.
Ripley was detained by CHP and was then taken into custody by the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office.
Siskiyou County Sheriff, Jon Lopey, says there were signs this man was dangerous.
Lopey says, "He was exhibiting behavioral patterns that are inconsistent with someone who's acting normal, so it would've been a good idea for them to have contacted the bus driver and called us to, uh, have a talk with this individual in advance of this incident even occurring."
Both victims were taken to Mercy Medical Hospital in Mount Shasta.
Ripley is being held without bail and awaiting arraignment in Siskiyou County.
Ripley's motives are still under investigation.
The Sheriff's Office commends the men who took action to detain Ripley.
