ASHLAND, Ore. -- Ashland Police are launching a new web site, in an effort to help victims of sexual assault.
Starting Jan. 1, officers will start the "You Have Options" campaign. With the help of the site, police will make it easier for victims to report sexual assaults.
Sgt. Tighe O'Meara says sexual assualt is the number one person to person crime in Ashland, and it often goes under-reported. Officers want to see more people report the crime.
O'Meara says victims can tell police as much or as little information as they want. He says people can make anonymous reports, or request complete investigations that could result in criminal charges.
"Through this system we are going to leave all of the discretion and control in the hands of the victim," O'Meara said. "And we're going to allow the victim to give us as much or as little information as they want."
The site can be found at www.reportingoptions.org.
