Toyota and Audi unveiled their driver-less technology during the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show.
The Audi TTS is equipped with a powerful computer that was created by a Stanford University engineering team. The computer has a precise GPS and a red button that a person pushes to tell the car to take them for a ride.
The car goes as fast as it cans and slows down as it navigates hairpin turns.
Developers studied race car drivers and have tried to program the drivers' reflexes and instincts into the computer's software.
They believe it will make the car a safer driver than many of us.
Google has been testing driver-less vehicles and their test fleet has driven more than 300,000 miles -- all without incident.
Insurance professionals say the driver-less cars could bring safer roads and lower insurance rates. About 90 percent of auto accidents are caused by driver error.
"It you get 70, 80, 90 percent of all the cars on the road being driver-less, the need for insurance goes way down," insurance analyst Donald Light said. "Because the number of accidents go way down. Premiums could fall 80 to 90 percent, very substantial savings for the consumer."
