PHOENIX, Ore.-A car was found burnt this morning, but investigators do not have any leads.
Phoenix Police Department and Jackson County Fire District #5 responded to a call just before 10 a.m. for a burnt car on North Rose Street.
Police said, between 9:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:45 a.m. Sunday, someone tried to take a stereo from the parked car.
The suspect was unsuccessful, and lit some of the owner's clothes in the back seat, on fire.
Investigators said, the fire ran out of oxygen, keeping the flames from spreading outside the car.
"It's scary. Obviously, they don't have any respect for property or the value of life because there was a potential there to cause a lot of damage to property, as well hurt people," said Sgt. John Richmond with Phoenix Police Department.
Police said the car was unlocked and it is important to always remember to lock your vehicles.
The case is being called arson and is still under investigation.
If you have any information about this case, contact Phoenix Police.
