THE DALLES, Ore. -- The AMBER Alert related to the reporterd kidnapping of a 5 year old boy has been cancelled.
Troopers report that the child is safe, and the suspect has been taken into custody.
Oregon State Police say the boy was kidnapped by an adult male following an assualt in The Dalles.
The missing child is Skylar Meldin Coulcer-Jarding. He is described as a white male, 3'6", 45 - 60 pounds, with sandy brown hair. Skylar wears glasses, is cross-eyed, and has a speed impediment.
OSP says the child was taken on Wednesday, around 5:40 a.m. from a home in The Dalles. Officers say the suspect, Brian Lester Depriest, went into the child's home and assaulted two adults with a hammer.
The suspect, who is 36, knows the boy's mother. He reportedly took off in a stolen bluish-green 1997 Chevrolet Cavaalier. It has an Oregon license and reads 229 BUK. There is a dolphin sticker in the rear window.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6'5", 210 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt and blue jeans.
