MEDFORD, Ore. -- Crowds gather every year to see groups of brave "plungers" jump into ice cold water.
Special Olympics Oregon puts on the Polar Plunge event, which is the biggest fundraiser of the year.
Last year, the Medford Polar Plunge raised over $44,000 for the Special Olympics and this year, they are hoping to raise over $50,000.
"This year we have more big sponsors helping us out with the event and more groups have signed up as well. We are hoping this year will be our biggest yet," said Sally Lynch, the Polar Plunge Manager.
The plunge will be taking place at the Jackson Aquatic center in Medford on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
"It's not too late to sign up. If someone wants to join a team, registration will be at 5 p.m. on Friday or they can register online at our website," said Lynch.
To register for the plunge, visit http://www.plungeoregon.com/Sub-Page.aspx?Name=History&PID=146.
