Katherine McAloon pleaded guilty to unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor and three counts furnishing alcohol to minors in a Jackson County Court on Tuesday. She pleaded no contest to criminal mistreatment.
McAloon's charges stem from the February 2012 death of Ashley Long. The 14-year-old died at a party held in McAloon's party. Her death occurred after inhaling helium.
The Medford woman will serve 28 months for delivery of marijuana to minor and 30 days for each count of alcohol charges. She will serve her time in state prison.
McAloon was ordered to pay more than $200 in resitition to the Long family. The restution is meant to cover counseling for Ashley Long's family.
Richard Mowery pleaded no contest to criminally negligent homicide. He is the one who found the helium tank and encouraged everyone to use it during the party.
He will serve 90 days and be on probation for three years. He will serve his time in the county jail.
District Attorney Beth Heckert said Mowery received a 90-day sentence because he had clean criminal record. Mowery was ordered to pay more than $10,000 restitution for funeral costs.
Several of Long's family members were in court on Tuesday, and many of them spoke during hearing.
