The hiker went missing Saturday afternoon in the Moser Creek drainage area near the Oregon Redwood Trail, according to a press release from the Curry County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the man and his wife were hiking the trail near Peavine Road, just off Winchuck River Road. However, the pair got separated.
Search and rescue crews looked in the area but had no success. They suspended the search because it had gotten dark.
Teams began searching the next morning. They did sound sweeps using horn blasts and whistles. Officials say these sweeps help alert missing hikers that a search is underway.
The missing hiker heard the horn blasts and yelled in response. Crews heard him and zeroed in on his location. He was found shortly after noon on Sunday.
The hiker was exhausted but was OK.
