Lady Raiders earn All-Conference honors

LA GRANDE -- Sydney White (Clovis, Calif./Clovis West) and Stephanie Vandenbusch (Fremont, Calif./American) received All-Cascade Collegiate Conference recognition, with White earning first-team honors and Vandenbusch making the honorable mention list as the conference released its postseason honors.

White led the conference in numerous pitching categories as a freshman. She ranked first in appearances (22), starts (16) and innings pitched (112.1), while ranking second in strikeouts (76), shutouts (3) and wins (11) and third in opponent batting average (.233). White tallied a 3.18 earned run average and 11-6 record during her first run through the CCC.

Vandenbusch followed up her Co-Newcomer of the Year Honors last season by hitting .300 with a .434 on base percentage and a .563 slugging percentage during the 2013 conference season. She led the CCC with four triples and tied for eighth with 21 runs batted in and was hit by a pitch a league-high 13 times. She also led the Raiders with four home runs and 45 total bases.

Corban senior Stephanie Nippert was named CCC Player of the Year for the third consecutive year, while C of I's Nickayla Skinner received Pitcher of the Year honors. Concordia shortstop Taylor Copher was named Newcomer of the Year, and Corban's Nathan Ohta was named Coach of the Year.

Southern Oregon concluded the 2013 season two weeks ago on a five-game winning streak to end the year with a 20-21 overall record. The Raiders' 16-12 conference mark was good for fifth place in the standings, one game behind eventual CCC Tournament champion College of Idaho for the fourth spot in the tourney.
