Opinion: DNC airing its dirty laundry will only help Republicans

FILE - This July 26, 2016 file photo shows former head of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile speaking during the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. Brazile says she considered replacing Hillary Clinton as the party’s presidential nominee with then-Vice President Joe Biden. She makes the revelation in a memoir being released Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017. This is according to The Washington Post, which obtained an advance copy of the book. (AP Photo/Paul Sancya, file)

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - There is some turmoil inside the Democratic Party these days.

You may have heard of Donna Brazile.

She is a long time Democrat operative who was the interim chair of the DNC at the end of the 2016 election cycle after sitting chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz had to resign.

Well, now Mrs. Brazile is telling her side of the 2016 story. Here are some very interesting assertions that she is making.

First, President Obama apparently drove the Democrat Party into significant debt. By comparison, when President Bush left the White House the Republican National Committee had no debt and millions of dollars in the bank.

Being in bad financial shape is terrible for party morale and winning elections across the country. Maybe that is why there are currently 34 Republican governors in the United States as well as majorities in the U.S. House and Senate.

Second, the Clinton campaign was allegedly financing the DNC while the party was supposed to be running a fair and square primary. So much for impartiality.

Third, Mrs. Brazile tells us that she seriously considered replacing Hillary Clinton with Joe Biden at the top of the Democrat ticket with about two months to go in the election.

Here is the bottom line: the Democrats should be concentrating on a path forward, both nationally and at the state level. Instead, they are engaged in a very public airing of dirty laundry which only helps Republican candidates across the United States.
