Crimestoppers: Man steals from helping friend

Medford Police are looking for a car thief who stole checks and a vehicle from a helping friend.

The victim in this crime befriended the suspect, Austin Meyer, and attempted to help Meyer improve his life by paying him for doing various odd jobs.

On a week that Meyer knew that the victim would be out of town, he stole his car, and cashed more than $1 thousand in stolen checks out of the victim's checkbook.

Police have located the vehicle, but are still looking for the suspect in this case.

Medford Police say this is a very serious crime.

"It is important and it does matter because here we have someone doing something good and it's turned into a negative," said Lt. Kerry Curtis of Medford Police.

The suspect is described as a 5'10, 150 pound, caucasian male with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 22 years old.

The Crimestoppers case number for this crime is 10-03-17.
