CRIMESTOPPERS: OSP Searching for Poachers

Oregon State Police (OSP) are searching for someone who poached and dumped three bucks in the Butte Falls Area. The animals appear to be unlawfully taken and wasted.

Troopers say that they first had 3 headless deer reported to them last weekend. Investigations showed that the deer were most likely taken illegally and had their heads removed from the carcass. Very little meat was salvaged from the deer.

Since then, they have had at least 3 other reports of headless deer around the valley.

Troopers say, deer tend to come out more this time of year,

"This time of year the deer are in the rut and also are migrating to lower winter range. The large mature bucks are extremely susceptible being that a lot of their winter range is close to the valley like Salt Creek and Lake Creek," said Trooper Jim Collom in an email.
