Oregon State Police troopers are searching for a man involved in a deadly structure fire in Cave Junction. The fire happened two weeks ago at a residence off of East River St.

Emergency personnel found 65-year-old Donald Thomas dead inside the building.

OSP troopers report a male was previously seen igniting and throwing a flare at the house. Sgt. Jeff Proulx said there have been multiple instances of flame throwing, which he hopes will help further the investigation.

"We're thinking there may be some other people out there that may have some additional information that didn't think anything of it at the time," Proulx said. "But now, it's very important because not only did a house get burned, but a gentleman was killed in that fire. That's not only arson, but murder too."

Proulx said the person of interest, who may be a possible suspect in the case, was captured on video exiting a car. OSP major crimes and arson detectives are leading the investigation.
