20-year-old killed, four others injured in solo crash in Trinity County
TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. (KRCR) -- A 20-year-old man was killed and four others were injured in a solo crash in Trinity County on Friday, September 6.
The California Highway Patrol says on Friday at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers received a call for a report of a traffic collision on SR-3, just south of Guy Covington Drive in Trinity County.
Trinity River Area CHP officers responded to the scene and determined the traffic collision to be a solo-vehicle crash.
Officers say the car, a 2003 Ford, crashed into a tree on the shoulder of SR-3.
They say the driver of the Ford, Justin Seaman, 20, of Eagle Point, Oregon, was driving at an accelerated speed when he approached a curve in the road.
Officers say due to Seaman's speed, he was unable to see the curve in the road and the truck ran off the road and struck a tree as a result.
The driver, Justin Seaman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Four other passengers, three from Eureka and one from Aracata, were transported to the hospital with moderate to major injuries.
Officers say alcohol appears to have been a factor in the crash.
Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the Trinity River Area CHP Office at 530-623-3832.
