Crowds of decked-out fans and comic enthusiasts took downtown Medford by storm Saturday for the city's 4th annual Comic Con.

The free event goes all weekend at the Jackson County Library, and celebrates art, technology and pop culture.

More than 10,000 people attended the event last year, according to staff members.

The festivities were previously held within a single day. Organizers expected about 20,000 people to attend this year, prompting them to spread the event over an entire weekend.

"I think it's great. I've seen a lot of people that have worked really hard on their costumes, had some really great innovative ideas, so it's been fun," said Breanna Grieve, an attendant and vendor who dressed up as a unicorn she calls "Shartay." "The kids are really enjoying it and getting dressed up too."

The event is full of workshops, vendors and contests. You can learn more about workshop schedules by viewing the event program.

The 2018 Medford Comic Con continues Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
