A new program called Adopt A Family is helping foster families in Jackson County.

The program is ran by Every Child, which is a local non-profit and statewide initiative.

The Weavers, who are fostering three children, are already using the program.

They have been foster parents for two years and have a four year old, two year old and an eight month year old and says, Adopt A Family couldn't have come at a better time.

"Having these people come side by side with us are just here to support us and they understand why we do it," Foster Parent Joshua Weaver said.

The Director, Lynette Haas says, the way it works is, six members from the community adopt a family for six months.

They have to attend a orientation that's held every month.

Haas says the program contains three components, two free meals every two months, gentle care and support, and acts of kindness.

The next orientation will be November 20th.
