Arson investigation in Grants Pass after trailer fire

On Tuesday, July 16th, 2019 Grants Pass Department of Public Safety and Fire Rescue responded to a small travel trailer fire.

The trailer was at 754 NW 2nd Street in the driveway.

The first units arrived less than three minutes after the initial call to find the trailer fully involved. Smoke could be seen from several blocks away.

The fire was quickly extinguished by Grants Pass Department of Public Safety Fire Rescue with only the trailer being destroyed and no injuries reported.

Witness statements described a female leaving the trailer prior to the 911 call.

Officers checking the area located Elise Degraffenreid nearby. She was known to frequent the location.

Upon completion of an investigation, Degraffenreid was lodged at the Josephine County Jail for arson and tampering with evidence.

The total value of the damage to the trailer has yet to be determined.
