Wednesday morning, Jackson County law enforcement agencies gathered for a Peace Officer Memorial similar to ones held Tuesday.

This one hit closer to home because of the death of Officer Malcus Williams from the Ashland Police Department back in March.

"There is something really significant that comes out of events like this," APD Chief Tighe O'Meara said. "That's the love and support you get from the community, and it is in that support that I think we all find the ability to go on and keep doing our jobs."

Williams's family did not make any statements, but took time to look at the stone that names the fallen officers of Jackson County Law Enforcement.

Williams's name was added within the last 10 weeks.
