Bartender: Superbowl is the Christmas of the sports bar world
MEDFORD, Ore. —
Superbowl LII was ultimately a victory for the Eagles, but the Philadelphia players weren't the only winners on Sunday. Local sports bars also benefited from the festivities, cashing in on what some say is their busiest day of the year.
Joe's Sports Bar & Grill in Medford was no exception. Carly Fougler, a bartender and server at the bar for two years, says they typically expect a full house every year on Superbowl Sunday.
"Our biggest holidays are the Superbowl and the Civil War," said Fougler. "We also do an annual golf tournament which is pretty big, but definitely this is like Christmas for the sports bar world."
Fougler says all of the day's business will help the bar recover from a slow January-- typically slow time following the holidays.
During the game, Joe's staff hosted a raffle, an all-you-can-rat prime rib buffet, and encouraged fans to dress up to support their favorite team.
