The White House / Shealah Craighead

Assembly Bill 430, proposed by Assemblyman James Gallagher (R- Yuba City), which would expedite housing production for Camp Fire victims passed the State Assembly Monday 68-1.

Specifically, the bill would streamline the ministerial review process for qualifying houses and buildings destroyed by the November 8 fire. It is also intended to alleviate the strain on neighboring communities currently impacted with extra residents who had to relocate after losing their homes

“I am thankful for the bipartisan support and recognition from my colleagues that the extraordinary circumstances of the Camp Fire require immediate action to help provide housing for fire victims,” Assemblyman Gallagher said in a prepared statement. “I appreciate all the stakeholders that have come to the table to be part of the solution and provided valuable feedback to create a better piece of legislation."

The bill will now be submitted to the State Senate for further consideration.
