GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- A brush fire broke out in the blackberry bushes along Interstate 5 Sunday evening. About one-tenth of an acre spread near mile post 57.

The Oregon Department of Forestry knocked down the fire along with the Rural-Metro Fire Department, and one lane of traffic was closed for about 20 minutes. Fire crews said these fires become more dangerous as fire season goes on.

"Exposing any of the vehicles that are passing by, and also, on another different day if the activities are high it could have the possibility to jump in the freeway, and also cause another fire on the side of the freeway," Bobby Vonessen with the Oregon Department of Forestry said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
