VIDEO: Car fire in Medford causes traffic delays

(KTVL)

MEDFORD, Ore. - A reported car fire is causing some traffic delays on Foothill Road and Dry Creek Road.

When a man's vehicle began smoking as he was driving, he was able to get out before it burst into flames. Jackson County Fire District 3 attributed the fire to a mechanical failure. They also went on to say that the fire was a unique situation. Due to the location of the incident, on a slope, gas kept leaking into the fire, continuing to fan the flames.

The damage to the vehicle is extensive and the one lane road is experiencing significant delays.

If you use Foothill Road as part of your evening commute, you should avoid the area.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

The driver was visibly shaken up and declined to speak.

His wife did tell News10 that he had just filled the vehicle up with old, childhood photos and mementos and they were all lost in the fire, along with thousands of dollars of work equipment.
