Crash causes major power outage in Central Point
A car crash in Central Point downed a power line late Thursday morning, causing outages throughout the area.
The crashed occurred on at the intersection of Beall Lane and Highway 99. As a result, traffic lights at intersections were down, as well as power in both business and residential areas. Medford Police redirected traffic along Beall Lane.
Central Point Police blocking Front Street on the north end of the closure said it would be in place "for awhile." The outage affected approximately 19,000 people initially at 11:40 a.m. As of 2:21 p.m., only 1700 people were still without power.
Traffic lights at Beall Lane and Front Street were down as well as power in both business and residential areas.
