CANNON BEACH, Ore. – “Not every call has a happy ending.”
Crews recovered a dog Saturday after it had fallen off a cliff and into the Pacific Ocean at Ecola State Park.
Someone called the Cannon Beach Rural Fire Protection District to report that a dog had fallen from a cliff along one of the park’s trails.
Two people who were surfing in the area paddled over to the area while a Cannon Beach lifeguard swam to the cliffs. They confirmed that the dog was deceased.
Seaside Fire & Rescue sent out their jet skis to retrieve the dog.
“Not every call has a happy ending,” Cannon Beach RFPD said in a Facebook post. “Please remember to keep your furry friend on a leash, and hold onto that leash. We want everyone to enjoy our coastal area safely.”
Nehalem Bay Fire and Rescue, Seaside Fire, Cannon Beach Lifeguards and the Cannon Beach Police Department all assisted with the call.
